Weekend getaway/hubby's b-day

Since Blaine (my hubby) is less then a year into his practice opening and we have a baby due soon, he didn't want to take any time off this year for a vacation, so instead we decided to take a Memorial Day weekend getaway for his birthday. We traveled up to north AL to Cathedral Caverns/Lake Gunnersville. We have been there before but without the kids and thought the boys would enjoy some caving and hiking.
Lucy wasn't sure about riding in the backpack at first, but she soon loved it.
We had some time to kill before the cave tour began, so the kids did some posing for me!
Love this pic of my favorite people, even if Blaine has his fake smile on! He tries to bear with me as I take fifty million pictures! :)
At the entrance of Cathedral Caverns, AL.
If you have never been to a cave before this is a really cool, easy cave to start with. Its really kid friendly. The boys loved it!
These pics don't do the cool formations inside the cave justice
Carter laying on the cold rock
Blaine acting silly
End of the cave tour family pic. Lucy was passed out in the backpack by his time.
Enjoying rock candy suckers after the cave tour.
They boys had fun mining for cool rocks at the mining station.

The next day we headed out to Desoto State Park for some hiking! I am not a huge fan, but the boys and Blaine LOVE hiking and exploring.

Lucy liked riding as long as Blaine kept moving or bouncing her. She didn't like sitting still.

Proof I was there and hiked up and down the rocky slopes while pregnant. ;)

Blaine acting crazy and Lucy having a panic attack!:)

Blaine showed the boys how to climb some of the rock walls, scaring me to death. Cooper was like a spider monkey and made it to the top on some of the lower ones.

After a couple of trails we stopped by the camp store for ice cream and a look at the nature center.
Lucy loved watching the bunny! She didn't want to leave.

Later that day we had a picnic dinner at Desoto Falls. It was a really neat waterfall, but with nothing but a thin rail to keep Carter and his crazy self from falling over we didn't stay close by for too long.

When we got home we had a little birthday celebration, since no birthday is complete without a cake!

Happy 33rd birthday Blaine! We love you!
