Merry Christmas!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2011!!
Cooper- 7 years old

Carter- 4 years old
Lucy- 4 months old
Funny story about the Christmas pictures.  I really wanted to get Christmas pictures of the kids at the beach this year since this is our last Christmas in Mobile, but I waited to the last minute and ended up going to the beach on one of the two cold days we have had in Mobile.  Everyone was FREEZING!!!!! But my boys are such good sports with pictures that they would seriously be shivering and teeth chattering and I would say smile and they would flash a smile let me take the picture and then in the next breath be whining and shivering again. Needless to say it was a super short photo shoot. :) Love my kiddos!!!
FYI: I may not be updating the blog again for awhile. My computer that I do all my picture editing, blogging and embroidery on crashed so I am out a computer for awhile. I downloaded a few pics to Blaines mini laptop for Christmas pics, but it takes forever and I am limited to what I can do.

4 months

I love this age with Lucy. She has started sleeping 7-8 hour stretchs with only one feeding at night. She also coos and smiles whenever she sees my face (seriously love this)! She is starting to scoot forward by pushing her legs and starting to reach for things with her hands, but dosen't have full control yet. She definitely loves me to hold her and snuggle her but seriously dislikes being left in the carseat.  Her fingers have become her best friend and chews/slobers on them all the time. She is our sweet love bug and is adored by her family!

Itty Bitty Fingers & Teeny Tiny Toes

Since birth Lucy has tried to get her hands in her mouth to suck on them. But within the past few days she has been consistently getting her two middle fingers in her mouth and sucking on them.  As a baby I sucked my fingers in the exact same way.  I have been giving her the pacifer to discourage finger sucking but she definitely loves her hands and fingers more then the pacifer.
How cute are these toes?!
I have been wanting to paint them since she was born, but they were just too tiny.
Finally they are big enough to paint! When I put her in the bumbo she will stare at her toes fascinated by their pretty color.

Happy Fall Y'all

I love the fall leaves and all the beautiful colors they make! But since we don't really have many trees around us, I tried to make do with a few handful of beautiful leaves that blew into our yard from our neighbors bush.  Carter had a blast collecting the leaves and then throwing them around Lucy on the carpet. Lucy was wide eyed as she watched the leaves flutter down.
Carter showing off his favorite leaf!
This is also one of my favorite times of the year in Mobile because the cotton fields are in full bloom. They look so crisp and white!  "Southern Snow" they call it around here!

Homeschool Preschool

I always laugh when people ask Carter where he goes to preschool and he says "I don't go to preschool I go to homeschool"! :)  When Cooper was little I decided not to put him in preschool and to do preschool at home instead. So we would take 30 minutes out of our day each day to do preschool.  I did it with Cooper until he went to Kindergarten. I have now been doing it with Carter since he was 3. Carter has really enjoyed "preschool" and it is fun to come up with new things to teach him.  It is my one on one time with him and he really enjoys having moms full attention all to himself!

Carter  LOVES this dry erase board.  I highly recommend it for preschool age children. I think it is from Wal-Mart. It has other pages for learning numbers, letters, shapes, and simple addition.  The only thing is the Dry-Erase markers stain clothes or furniture so we have switched to the washable Dry-Erase crayons from Crayola.  Love them! They are a bit harder to wipe off, but don't stain and don't dry out like the markers.

My Boys!

I feel I have neglected Cooper and Carter since Lucy has been born with very few posts about what they have been up to.
I will start with Cooper.  He has  been playing soccer for the past month and has gotten better with each game.  I love watching him play! He is a good team player and loves to just play and have fun!
Cooper is still my kind/loving kid and loves to make new friends even though  he can't hardly ever remember  anybodies name! LOL!  He is doing really well in 2nd grade beside those hard spelling words that drive him crazy (like I said he has a hard time memorizing things)! :) He recently learned to tie his own shoes(YEA!)  and loves drawing/creating things to hang on his wall! We recently cut his hair short again and he looks so grown up now. Love my Coop!

Some of his creations.
Oh my,where to begin with Carter?  He is too smart for his own good!  :) The stuff that comes out of that kids mouth keeps Blaine and I laughing constantly! He can't sit still to save his life which results in way to many injuries.  I finally enrolled him in gymnastics to help control his overwhelming urge to jump/flip on everything and he is doing REALLY well.  He had a meltdown the second week of gymnastics, but now seems to love it and gets really excited when its gymnastics day. He is still my high strung, stubborn, loud, and overly sensitive Carter but he is learning to control his emotions little by little!
Latest injury. He somehow fell while peeing and busted his chin on the toilet. Blaine stitched him up at home and he thought it was the coolest thing that his dad could fix him!

Halloween decorations

I love Halloween and so do the kids! We have a blast decorating the house and making fun Halloween treats.  I finally finished my mantle decorations thanks to a friend who helped me make the spooky blocks.  I found the idea  for the Halloween banner off another blog and  then created my own version of it.
Love the spooky blocks! Thanks Stacey!
I made tombstone rice krispies for our Bunco group. I though they turned out super cute. I made a whole bunch of  them but forgot to take pics so I  only got a pic of one that was leftover.
And I had to include a pic of Lucy wearing her skeleton pj's that Carter picked out for her. Carter has a pair of skeleton pj's also that he LOVES and wears non-stop. I will have to get a pic of them wearing them  together.

2 months

My sweet baby Lucy is now 2 months old! At 2 months she weighs 12lbs, has pretty good head control, is spacing her feeding to every 4 hours at night and has started smiling when awake. She is a bit spoiled and LOVES to snuggle on my chest! Love you baby girl!!!

Thirty!?!?

Turning thirty was a hard brithday for me. Blah.... I moped around for days feeling like an old woman. LOL :) But then I realized I can't reverse time and so I should just make the most of aging! I have learned a lot as I have grown older and realize I will only gain more wisdom as life continues on.  In the last 10 years  I have gained confidence that I never  knew I had, learned that even though the road is tough I am tougher, became a mom and realized how important my job as a mom is, seen my testimony and love for the Savior grow, and so much more! So here's to turning THIRTY! 30! WOW! Let's hope the next 10 years are just as great!!!

Nostalgia

I really hope my dad is checking my blog, because this post is for him. Let me tell a little back story so you will understand the pic.  My dad owns a grocery store and as I was growing up everytime my siblings would visit with a new baby they had this tradition of going to my dad's grocery store and weighing the baby on the old timey produce scale.  I always loved seeing how much the babies weighed and would think I can't wait to have a baby so I can do this also.  But, before I had kids they changed over to electronic scales at dad's grocery store and the baby weighing tradition ceased.  So, when I was at a local fabric store with some friends a few days ago and saw an old scale just like dad used to have at his store, I HAD to take a pic of Lucy on the scale! I only had my cell phone, so the pic is not the best, but it certaintly brings back memories. According to the scale, Lucy now weighs a whopping 12 pounds! :)

End of August

The month of August has flown by with many firsts for Lucy. She had her first Sunday at church where I tried(with little success) to ward off all the many hands trying to love on her. Oh well! She has to get exposed to the germy world at some point.  She also had her first trip to the beach with her brothers! She slept the whole time, but nonetheless she was at the beach.  :)  And to top it all off she turned 1 month old! She weighed 9lb 9oz at her 1 month check up. I had to pack up the newborn clothes and switch her to a size 1 diaper. She is growing so fast!
Carter has rule of  the house now with Cooper in school and he is loving having Lucy and me all to himself.  He loves on Lucy, talks to her and tries to play with her.  He is being an awesome big brother!!

3 week photo shoot

Photos that I took of sweet Lucy at 3 weeks old! I wish she would stay this small forever!
Love her pouty lips!
