May ramblings

To finish out May here are a few random things about the kids that happened this month.
Cooper lost his two front teeth on the same day. Ugh! I am not a fan of teeth losing/pulling and hillbilly gaped mouths. :) But he thinks its super fun to suck air and water through that front gap!
Carter finished Gymnastics for the spring season. He really loves it and even though he is a high strung bundle of energy he is doing fairly well and wants to continue throughout the year.
Lucy has all of a sudden grown tons of hair. I swear overnight her hair grew two inches. I can't believe how many curls it has since my hair has zero curls.

FYI: if you are looking for a cute foam chair for kids check out www.uglysofa.com. I think it's called their ugly-where chair. I had been looking for a chair for Lucy to watch tv in and loved the ones from Pottery barn kids, but was not going to pay their high price. I stumbled across uglysofa.com that offers out of season pottery barn slipcovers with their own foam inserts for half the price!!!!! It's fab, Lou loves it and yes it comes with a real pottery barn washable cover and free name personalization (Lucy's head is covering up the embroidered name on the top). Now if I can only keep the boys from fighting Lucy over who gets to sit in it! ;)

Boiling up some crawfish

The Britt clan gets together every year for a crawfish boil. Most of the work and planning has fallen on cousins Blaine (my hubby) and Nathan but they don't seem to mind, since its their chance to get everybody together to catch up. The kids don't eat much crawfish but they love having cousins around to play with!

Cousins Cooper, Emily and Carter
Cousins Presley and Lucy are just 4 months apart.
A funny pic of Ava going down the water slide!
Crawfish time!
The boys chowing down!
Grandma and Lucy having fun on the trampoline.
Cousin Ellenie cheesin for the camera. She is just a couple months older than Lucy.

Instagram prints

I love taking pics and posting them with the app Instagram! I have been using it for about a year now, but never knew how to get those cute pics printed into real pictures. Recently I stumbled onto a blog post about printing Instagram pictures with printstagram.com. YEA!! I had to give printstagram a try. It was super easy and they came out really cute. The photos and photo paper were of good quality. As soon as I got those tiny pics in the mail I had to come up with a fun way to display them. Thanks to Pinterest I found a cute project and had them displayed on the wall in no time!

Love my Instagram photo collage!

Schools out!

The boys finished up the school year a couple of weeks ago. Cooper finished 3rd grade and Carter graduated from Kindergarten. My boys are growing up way to fast. Cooper and cousin Emily finished up with all A/B honor roll for the year. I am so proud of Cooper because moving to a new school with different curriculum combined with his teacher leaving midway through the year proved a bit tougher then what he was used too,but he hung in there and did well!
Love my sweet, kind, whiny, dreamer, junk/treasure collector, artsy Cooper!!!This pic of Emily and Coop makes me laugh. Emily looks heads taller than Cooper. My little Coop is tiny but not that
tiny! He was standing in a lower spot than her. :)
My sweet Carter graduated from Kindergarten. He was more than ready to move on to 1st grade but I was so not ready for my little boy to grow up. :( Carter finished Kindergarten with all A's for the year! He seriously was bored to death curriculum wise, but it was great for his social and behavior skills that he struggles with.
So excited to get a medal! That's all he talked about for the next few days!
The many faces of one excited little boy!
Love my super smart, loving, crazy, wild, over emotional, OCD, Carter!!!

So tired!

Lately Lucy has been fighting nap time, so I have been letting her stay awake and play. She eventually can't fight it anymore and passes out in random places. :) This girl goes until she just can't go anymore!!!!
She was putting silly bands on her arm and just couldn't stay awake to finish.

She fell asleep sitting straight up while playing the iPad.

34 weeks

Counting down!!! Only 6 more weeks to go! Ready or not baby Lathen will be before I know it. Besides the horrible heartburn and lack of energy I am doing great!

Why is parenting so hard?

Do you ever feel like your doing everything wrong as a parent? Yesterday was one of those days. It started off wrong with me fussing and no one getting ready for church and as much as I tried to stay calm I was already on edge and I just wanted to sit and enjoy sacrament meeting. No such luck. Carter started whining as soon as we sat down and would not stop. I gave him a warning and it continued so out the door we went. First of all I am 33 weeks pregnant and dragging(yes, dragging) a 5 year out of the door is the last thing I want to be doing. He runs, I chase, I spank, he cries. It's was not a pretty scene. I am tired/pregnant and he is VERY stubborn. Again, I just want to sit down and enjoy Sacrament meeting. This scene played out again in primary when Carter refused to listen to his teacher. By the time church was over I was DONE!!!! Why is parenting so hard? I don't like to discipline my kids. I don't like to fuss, do timeouts, take away toys/privileges or be the mean mom, but I do have certain expectations of how a 5 year old should act. Ughhhh.... I feel like I do everything wrong with Carter. There must be some sort of parenting technique that I am missing. The thing is I have been trying with Carter since he was just a little toddler. He has always been a stubborn, over active, and very dramatic child. I thought with consistency he would eventually be this perfect child and all would be well! Lol :) I've since learned its not that easy. I am not perfect and I make many parenting mistakes, but I try very hard to raise respectable, well mannered, good kids. So, why do I still feel like I am failing. I worry about what other people think of my parenting. I worry they think I am too harsh or not loving enough. I worry Carter will grow up hating me for disciplining him. I worry I am doing this parenting thing all wrong. Ughhhh....... Like I said Why is parenting so hard?
