I turn it on, she turns it off. I turn it back on, 10 minutes later she turns it off. For whatever reason Lucy does NOT like the baby swing to be on. Now don't get me wrong she LOVES for the baby to be in the swing, because it gets the baby out of my arms, but not with it moving. I can't figure out, for the life of me, why she doesn't want the baby swing to swing. We go round and round all day whenever the baby is in the swing. On, off, on, off, on, off. Who knows?! She's Quirky like that! :)

Independent and stubborn

Since Baby Lathen has come into Lucy's life she has decided she is not the baby anymore and does not want to do anything that is considered babyish. She has suddenly become super independent and stubborn. I have had a hard time dealing with her and the most simple daily tasks end in a battle of wills. But within the last two weeks her new found independence/stubbornness has worked in my favor. She decided she did not want to wear diapers anymore (since the baby wears diapers) and literally potty trained herself. The only thing I did was encourage the panty wearing and take her to the toilet when she would tell me potty. She is now fully potty trained!! Yea, go Lucy!!

Celebrate Good Times, Come On!

My three oldest kiddos have birthdays within weeks of each other along with their cousin Emily. This makes for lots of birthday celebrating going on at the end of July/ first of August! This year we threw the boys a combined pool party and got two birthdays over at once. Then that weekend we threw Lucy a small birthday party at home. The next week we celebrated with cousin Emily at her 8th birthday party and then on Sunday of that week we again celebrated for Emily's baptism and Lathens blessing! It was a fun couple of weeks!

Lucys cake was my first cake using homemade marshmellow fondant. I was surprised at how easy it was to make and use. It actually tasted ok, but I still prefer cream cheese or buttercream icing.
